The Challenge
The project aimed to replace an outdated cast iron pipeline DN 100/150 with a new PE 100 pipeline in a municipal pumping station. The customer demanded a pre-fabricated solution to avoid any welding work at the site. There was also a desire to utilise existing pipeline connections and only mechanical connections in the pipeline. The confined space in the pump room presented an additional challenge.
The Solution
Aliaxis provided the solution as a complete package: The PE pipe, custom pre-fabrications from our factory in Mannheim and the mechanical connectors from the STRAUB brand. With the help of the STRAUB couplings PLAST-GRIP and COMBI-GRIP, we were able to longitudinally connect the installed PE pipelines. If necessary, a material transition to various pipe materials could also be made.
The Realisation
The project was realised in close cooperation between Aliaxis and the customer. Aliaxis provided technical advice as well as technical drawings for the renovation. Our customers benefit from our factory in Mannheim, where we can create custom pre-fabrications under optimal conditions to the customer's specifications.
The Conclusion
By using the pre-fabrications produced in our factory in Mannheim, the customer was able to save time during assembly on-site. The need for an elaborate site setup with welding machines and other auxiliary equipment was eliminated. We could provide everything from one source: pipes, fittings and valves as problem solvers. The customer praised the advantages of plastic and plans to switch from cast iron to PE for future projects.
