Polyethylene is a semi-crystalline thermoplastic that belongs to the group of polyolefins. Polyethylene (PE) is the most commonly used plastic today. Since 2017, over 100 million tonnes of polyethylene resins have been produced annually, which corresponds to 34% of global demand for plastics. Aliaxis pressure pipes made of PE-HD are ideal for applications in all areas of industrial plant construction. Other main areas of application include the transport of industrial and household waste water, waste water purification and water treatment in sewage treatment plants and various applications in swimming pools.
In addition, the mechanical properties of polyethylene are essentially dependent on the density, the degree of crystallisation and the manufacturing process, which is reflected in the variety of types. PE-HD 100 is being used more and more frequently in pipeline construction due to its higher strength. Another important factor in the continued use of PE-HD 100 is that it can be fused without restriction.
