The Challenge
Around 1,800 employees at the Bayreuth site of medi GmbH & Co. KG make a significant contribution to making people feel better. The aim is to enable users and patients to achieve maximum therapeutic success in the medical field (medi Medical) and also a unique body feeling in the sports and fashion segment (CEP and ITEM m6). medi recently expanded with the construction of a new administration building: The medi Tower will be the new heart of the company. A restaurant was planned for the first floor, with a terrace as a meeting point for all employees and guests. The entire building concept is efficient & sustainable. The planning and production of the kitchen water drainage systems are a challenge due to the limited space available.
The Solution
The installation of pipe-in-pipe systems can take place in very confined spaces: With the help of in-house prefabrication at our manufactory in Mannheim, the double-walled drainage system was prefabricated in modules and delivered to the construction site. This allowed us to optimize the number of pipe connections and the size of the system. In addition, by reducing the number of site connections, the risk of errors during installation is reduced to a minimum, as is the working time on site, as the modules only need to be fused together with the tried-and-tested electrofusion sockets.
The Realisation
Special attention is paid to the all-round service provided by Aliaxis: planning support and on-site instruction with the company's own tools. As a result, the greasy substances in the restaurant kitchen can now be kept in a liquid state when the waste water is drained through the basic pipe system to the grease separator. Grease deposits within the base line area are therefore not a problem.
The Conclusion
The project was successfully completed within the planned time frame, and the solution combines high performance and sustainability. The client particularly praised the competent support from the planning stage to the on-site instruction.
